REVIEW: THE WINTER PEOPLE BY JENNIFER MCMAHON

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

What it is about- Sara’s daughter disappeared, in the 1908 timeline. Her husband, Martin, goes to look for their daughter. In the present day, Ruthie’s mother disappeared and she and her sister, Fawn, is going to look for her. Katherine lost her baby and her husband and she is looking into the last moments of her husband.

POV- Sara’s diary entries, third person from Martin, Gertie, Ruthie and Katherine 

Happy ending- yes and no

Funny parts- no

Sad parts- yes

Scary level- 4/5

Gore- 3/5

Trigger warning- death of loved ones, 

Realistic scale- 0/5

Pick this up if- You want a horror with good family dynamics. You like dual timelines. You like a slow build up. You like ghost children. You want something Pet Sematary-esque. 

Don’t pick this up if- You don’t like slow builds. You hate it when characters do dumb things.
